In May 2019 the Irish government declared a climate emergency and shortly after submitted its Climate Action Plan 2019 on how 爱尔兰 will meet its climate targets.

"A fundamental requirement of this plan is to have 70 per cent of electricity generated from renewable sources by 2030. 为了实现这个目标, 爱尔兰 must achieve extensive electrification and produce the majority of its electricity from renewable sources,奥多诺万说.
